Case Study
Hiring female leadership to
strengthen executive team

Situation

Our client is one of the world's most respected technology and consulting services providers, and Fortune 100 icon. Having worked with them for over 10 years to recruit key executives, managers and individual contributors we were briefed to find a new Head of Transformation for their International Operations. Our client was also keen to stress that he wanted to strengthen his team by trying to recruit another senior female executive to this post, to reflect the diversity of their organisation and valuing the different perspectives to tackle the significant disruption in their market. The client was also keen to look at executives working in completely different industry sectors as long as the executive had worked in an environment undergoing rapid change.

The Project

We worked with the client to define the brief in greater detail and to understand the employee value proposition for this role, we also had an excellent understanding of their organisation culture and were able to use this information to create a far more compelling proposition to appeal to prospective candidates motivations.

Through our research process we were able to identify strong candidates who had managed major organisational change in a range of sectors, at a scale and complexity level that would be relevant to our clients' need. Our interview process sought to understand the candidates' career aspirations and motivations and to see to identify the best fit with our client and we were able to produce a diverse shortlist of candidates, both in terms of the industry experience, as well as gender. None of the candidates worked for the 'usual suspects' that the client typically recruited from. This shortlist was far more diverse.

The Outcome

Having arranged interviews with the client there was one stand out candidate who we helped to manage through multiple interviews in a flexible and candidate centred way. The candidate was impressed with the flexibility and speed of the process, as well as the candour of the executives she met, particularly as there was some share price altering news that affected the client and the potential scope of the role. However, the candidate was impressed with the client and the opportunities to develop her career and has now joined to steer her nee employer through a transformational change programme focused on customer experience.
